GLW battery pack in Hovertrax 2.0 recalled by CPSC for fire hazard (Aug 2021)

Safety risk

This is the primary documented recall for the Hovertrax 2.0.

What to check. If you own a Hovertrax 2.0 built between September 2016 and August 2017, check the battery pack for a GLW label/serial. If present, stop using it immediately and contact Razor (866-467-2967) for a prepaid return box and free replacement battery. The recall covers ~237,300 units with 20+ overheating reports including smoke/fire.

Non-UL certified Hovertrax hoverboards recalled by CPSC for fire hazard (July 2016)

Safety risk

This recall covers the earlier non-UL Hovertrax model sold Dec 2015-May 2016, before the 2.0 (sold from Sept 2016).

What to check. This is the earlier Hovertrax generation, not the 2.0, but it shows the brand's hoverboard battery fire history. If you have a Hovertrax with these serial prefixes, stop using it and contact Razor for a free UL 2272-certified replacement.

Worth checking

EU recall: Hovertrax 2.0 charging circuit lacks cutoff switch, overcharge/overheat fire and burn risk (2019)

Safety risk

This is a Korean consumer-safety database (CISS) record of a 2019 European Union recall of the Hovertrax 2.0. Translation: the charging circuit has no cutoff switch, so the battery can overcharge and overheat, causing fire or burns.

What to check. This is a European-market recall (not US), but it flags a separate charging-circuit defect on the same Hovertrax 2.0 model. If you use the original charger, watch for overcharging/overheating during charging.
