Privacy policy
Last updated 20 October 2026 ยท Covers the Kriko desktop app, the Kriko browser extension and kriko.cc
The short version. Kriko runs on your computer and keeps what it reads there. There is no Kriko account, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising. Kriko the project receives nothing about you. Data leaves your computer only when you start something that needs it, and this page lists each case.
Where your data lives
The desktop app starts a small engine on your own machine. Your saved checks, history, settings, price history and the catalogs you installed are stored in a folder on your computer (.kriko in your user folder). The browser extension talks only to that engine, at 127.0.0.1 or localhost. We run no server that holds your data.
The browser extension
- What it reads. The product page you have open: the title, price, listing details and seller information shown on it. It reads the page only to look the product up, on pages where you open it and on sites you have allowed.
- Where it goes. To the Kriko engine on your computer. Not to us, and not to any advertiser or analytics service.
- What it stores. Your settings, the panel's cached answers for pages you opened, and the short lists it needs to avoid repeating itself. All of it sits in your browser's own extension storage and can be removed by uninstalling the extension.
- What it never does. It does not read your browsing history, cookies or saved passwords. It does not run code loaded from the internet. It does not sell or share data.
- Permissions.
activeTabandscriptingshow the panel on the page you open it on.storagekeeps your settings.alarmsruns periodic checks. Access to127.0.0.1andlocalhostreaches the app. Optional access tohttps://*/*is asked for when you turn Kriko on for a site. Optionalnotificationsis asked for only if you want price-drop alerts.
What leaves your computer, and when
Only when you start it, and only to the party named:
- Research and questions. When you ask Kriko to research a product or ask in Chat, the product name, any text you typed and any file you attached are given to the AI model or agent you chose: a model running on your computer, a coding agent installed on your computer, or a paid provider you connected with your own key. That provider's privacy policy applies to what it receives. The agent may also search the web and open pages about the product, as any browser would.
- Catalog and app updates. Kriko checks the project's public releases on GitHub for new catalogs and new app versions. Those requests carry no information about you beyond what any web request reveals, such as your IP address.
- Price watches. Your own computer re-reads a watched page a few times a day while Kriko is running. Nothing is sent to us.
- Phone and relay (optional). If you set up a relay yourself so a phone can share your lists or a price can be watched while your computer is off, your lists are sealed with a key only your devices hold before they are stored, so the relay cannot read them. A watch you switch on in the cloud tells your relay the page address. You run that relay; we do not.
What we collect
Nothing. Kriko has no account system, no usage analytics, no crash reporting that leaves your machine, and no advertising identifiers. We do not sell, rent or share personal data, because we do not hold any.
This website (kriko.cc)
The site is static pages hosted by Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare, like any host, keeps standard server logs such as IP address and requested page. The site itself sets no cookies, has no forms and runs no analytics. Its pages load nothing from third parties: the typeface is served from kriko.cc itself, so no one but Cloudflare sees that you visited.
Your control
- In the app, For you lists what is kept about your preferences and purchases and has a button to forget each part.
- The extension's options page turns off the marks on result pages and the check on cart and payment pages.
- To remove everything, uninstall the extension and the app, then delete the
.krikofolder in your user folder.
Chrome Web Store user data
The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data the extension reads is used only to provide Kriko's single purpose, showing what is known to go wrong with the product on the page you are reading. It is not transferred to anyone, not used for advertising and not read by people.
Children
Kriko is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and earlier versions stay in the project's public history on GitHub.
