InfoCons consumer alert: Serina Swivel seat can separate, non-compliant with GPSR
This is a consumer-protection alert (InfoCons) reflecting the EU Safety Gate notification for the same product, confirming the defect and the GPSR non-compliance.
What to check. Independent confirmation that the recall is EU-wide (notifying country Ireland, origin China). The swing was sold via Smyths stores and online, so check any unit bought from Smyths.
Joie Serina Swivel (Elephant Duo) recalled — steel bolt securing seat unit to frame can fail
This is the Irish regulator CCPC's official product-safety notification (published 12 March 2026).
What to check. If you own a Serina Swivel (Elephant Duo), check the batch number on the identification sticker on the underside of the swing arm/seat. If it is 190225, 200225, 210225 or 220225, stop using it immediately; CCPC says Joie/Smyths offer free collection, a full refund, or an upgrade to the Joie Serina 2 in 1.
Joie official safety notice: Serina Swivel seat can separate from base on affected batch
This is the manufacturer Joie's own product safety notice (published 2 March 2026), the primary source for the defect.
What to check. The manufacturer's notice restricts the defect to units manufactured 19, 21 or 22 February 2025 (model W1306DAELD000) and says units outside those dates are safe to continue using. Check the date on the label under the base before using.
These reports come from the pages linked under each item: owner forums, repair guides and workshops. They are not a diagnosis of any one unit, and a careful check of the one you are buying still applies.
