EU Safety Gate recall SR/02322/26: Xiaomi E-Bike charger (SLS-4202) electric shock risk
Safety risk
The EU Safety Gate alert SR/02322/26 (notifying country: Denmark) recalls a charger sold for Xiaomi Electric Scooter E-Bike. The risk is electric shock from inadequate creepage distances between primary and secondary circuits. The charger is 36V/42V lithium with adapter kit. This is a serious electrical safety issue for anyone using this charger.
What to check. If you own a Xiaomi E-Bike charger with model SLS-4202, stop using it immediately and contact the retailer/importer for a replacement. The product was removed from online marketplace listings as of 25/06/2026.
Official EU Safety Gate alert SR/02322/26, notified by Denmark, published 21 Aug 2026, product of China. The charger marketed for Xiaomi e-scooter/e-bike fails Low Voltage Directive creepage-distance requirements, so a user could touch live parts and get an electric shock. Caveat: this is a third-party 'Power Charger' (SLS-4202) sold for Xiaomi e-bikes, not confirmed as the OEM Mi Electric Bike charger, so a buyer should match the exact model/barcode before assuming their unit is affected.
What to check. If you own a 36V/42V charger labelled SLS-4202 sold for a Xiaomi e-bike, stop using it and check the EU Safety Gate record; the risk is electric shock from inadequate internal insulation.
Bafang motor controller recall (CPSC 2018): water ingress caused unintended acceleration
The US CPSC recalled Bafang motor controllers (models KT24WSH-BF08 and KT36WSH-BFZ13504) in August 2018 after 6 reports of unintended acceleration causing riders to lose control. Water ingress into the controller caused the acceleration. This is a Bafang component recall, not specifically a Xiaomi bike recall, but it is relevant because Bafang motors are used in many e-bikes including some Xiaomi models.
What to check. If your e-bike uses a Bafang motor controller, check the model number against this recall. Keep the controller dry and inspect for water damage. Unintended acceleration is a serious safety hazard.
Mi Smart Electric Folding Bike owners report motor-assist failure and battery-contact play
On the Darty SAV community forum, a certified owner of the Mi Smart Electric Folding Bike (the subject model, Samsung 36V/5800mAh battery) reports two units: one turns on with the assist logo but delivers no motor power, the other cuts assist when crossing a curb; a reply points to excessive play in the battery contacts. This is an owner-reported electrical failure of the exact subject product, though it is a single thread and not a confirmed defect rate.
What to check. Before assuming a dead battery on this bike, check the battery contact fit and the motor cable connection — owners report intermittent assist loss tied to contacts/wiring rather than the cells themselves.
Turkish owner reports: Xiaomi Mi Himo Z20 battery fails to charge and self-discharges
A Turkish owner on Şikayetvar reports the Xiaomi Mi Himo Z20 battery stopped charging suddenly. The warranty service said there was nothing wrong, but testing with another charger on the same bike model showed the bike had a contact issue. Another complaint on the same platform says the battery drains itself even when the bike is off and unused.
What to check. If you own a Himo Z20, test with a known-good charger and check the charging contact/connector before assuming the battery itself is dead. Turkish warranty service may not acknowledge the issue, so document everything.
These reports come from the pages linked under each item: owner forums, repair guides and workshops. They are not a diagnosis of any one unit, and a careful check of the one you are buying still applies.
