Costly or dangerous
Handlebar folding joint wears out after ~200 km and can fold while riding (owner report, Hungary)
After only ~200 km the handlebar folding joint wore out so badly the scooter could fold while riding, causing personal injury and ~80,000 HUF in parts damage. This matches the pack's known handlebar-play issue.
What to check. Check the folding joint for play early; a worn joint can fold mid-ride and cause a crash, and the replacement part is costly.
Throttle fault code 14 means the throttle must be replaced (Xiaomi official FAQ)
The maker itself documents that fault code 14 (or one long + four short beeps) means the throttle has failed and must be replaced at a service center.
What to check. If the dashboard shows code 14, the throttle is faulty and needs a service-center replacement; do not keep riding on a failing throttle.
Real-world range far below the advertised 70 km, degrading after a month
A 80 kg rider got at most 35 km per charge (advertised 70 km) and only 25 km after about a month. This matches the pack's known overstated-range issue.
What to check. Expect roughly half the advertised range at typical adult weight, and budget for further degradation within the first month.
Scooter auto powers off on slopes / overload due to motor overheating (official FAQ)
The scooter has a self-protection cut-off that shuts it down when the motor overheats on slopes or under overload. This is a documented behavior riders should know about.
What to check. On long or steep climbs the scooter can shut down mid-ride; avoid sustained full-power climbs and exceeding the payload.
Steering column develops play / wobble (owner forum, Russia)
An owner reports the steering column started to develop play/wobble and had to fabricate a new clamp because no replacement existed yet. This corroborates the handlebar-play issue from an independent owner source.
What to check. Watch for steering-column play; owners report having to improvise a fix because official replacement parts were unavailable early on.
These reports come from the pages linked under each item: owner forums, repair guides and workshops. They are not a diagnosis of any one unit, and a careful check of the one you are buying still applies.
