'OK Garmin' hands-free voice feature cuts Fenix 8 battery life by 35–50%
The voice wake-word feature, enabled by default in a September update, listens constantly and can halve battery life. Garmin acknowledges the drain but not the magnitude.
What to check. If your Fenix 8 battery life dropped sharply after a software update, go to Settings > System > Voice and disable 'OK Garmin' to restore expected runtime.
Fenix 8 display brightness stuck at maximum after sunlight exposure (firmware 23.31), draining battery
Garmin confirmed the bug after dozens of forum reports; it is a firmware regression (23.31) that also shortens battery life because the screen stays at max brightness.
What to check. If your Fenix 8 screen stays stuck at full brightness after being in sunlight, touch the screen or press a button to reset it until Garmin ships the fix. Check for the next firmware update.
A Garmin Connect iOS update broke Bluetooth pairing for Fenix 8 owners; fixed in app version 5.21.1, though some users needed to re-pair manually.
What to check. If your Fenix 8 won't connect to an iPhone, update Garmin Connect to 5.21.1+; if it still fails, forget and re-pair the watch in Bluetooth settings.
Turkish owner reports Fenix 8 self-resetting when starting a run; fixed by re-update via Garmin Express
A Turkish owner (Koşu Forum) reports the watch repeatedly resetting when starting a running activity; re-updating via Garmin Express resolved it. This is the only TR-market owner report found.
What to check. If your Fenix 8 resets when starting an activity, re-update the firmware via Garmin Express on a computer.
