Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro: known problems

3 sourced reports, with what to check before you buy. Each one links to the page it was reported on.

Costly or dangerous

Galaxy Buds3 Pro ANC produces constant white noise and pops/clicks

An owner review on Samsung's own review feed (aggregated on Google Shopping) reports that with ANC on the Buds3 Pro emit constant white noise plus pops, clicks and snaps, and that ANC amplifies rather than cancels ambient sound. A second review on the same page reports a high-pitched whining sound from both buds and a bad static-like sound.

What to check. If you buy these for noise cancellation, be aware that a documented owner complaint is that ANC adds constant white noise and crackling instead of silencing the environment. Test ANC in a quiet room within the return window before committing.

Galaxy Buds3 Pro left bud fails to charge, with burn mark on charging pin

PhoneArena aggregates Reddit and Samsung forum reports of a charging defect where the left bud refuses to charge, with some units showing a burn mark where the charging pin connects. It notes the affected units cluster in an October production batch, pointing to a manufacturing rather than software fault, and that workarounds (cleaning contacts, pressing the bud down) do not always work.

What to check. This is a hardware fault concentrated in certain production batches. Check the batch date under the barcode before buying, and verify both buds charge fully from the case within the return window.

Samsung official notice: covering the sub-microphone makes Buds3 Pro screech

Samsung's own support page (updated 31 August 2024) confirms that touching or covering the sub-microphone while ANC, adaptive sound or ambient sound is on makes the microphone pick up the contact and generate a beep or screeching sound. This is the manufacturer's official acknowledgement of a screeching/static behaviour tied to the microphone placement.

What to check. The screeching is partly a design interaction: covering the sub-microphone while adjusting the buds triggers it. If you hear it, reposition without touching the outer upper edge; but if it persists without contact, it may be the ANC fault reported by owners.
